Peanut Butter Latte Recipe

If you like your coffee sweet with something a little ‘extra’ then the peanut butter latte is everything you need. If you love peanut butter too, then just skip straight ahead to the recipe! We can’t really class this as a proper coffee as it’s more milk and peanut butter with added extras than coffee, but still, there’s no harm in enjoying something a little different.

Disclaimer – We don’t judge what brand of peanut butter you use!

Now, aside from the fact that this is a fun drink to make and it’s very sweet, you can also gain some extra ‘health’ benefits from drinking it. Without the health benefits of coffee, peanut butter alone has a number of benefits for your body. The main is that it is packed full of protein, so you could perhaps use the peanut butter latte recipe for your pre/post workout drink!

Before we start, there are many different peanut butter latte recipes out there and they all vary, some are hot, some iced, some use different kinds of milk, and so on. So if you are comparing two different recipes, you may get different results from each one.

OK – Let’s get into how to make a peanut butter latte.

What You’ll Need for the Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 double espresso (dark roast)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 3 tablespoons Peanut Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Honey
  • ¾ teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Optional Ingredient:

  • Cocoa powder (for toppings)
  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes

How to Make a Peanut Butter Latte

  1. First thing you need to do is grind your coffee beans to prepare a double espresso coffee. Remember, the fresher the beans are, the tastier the coffee cup is.

It’s important to have a double espresso here to bring out the coffee flavor more. With a latte, the coffee taste is usually masked, with the addition of peanut butter, a single shot would be unnoticeable. It’s also better to use a dark roast to get a stronger and bolder finish.
  2. For the peanut butter mixture, add the milk, peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Heat the mixture over medium heat, and whisk them thoroughly until they are blended very well.
  3. Just before the peanut butter mixture boils, remove it from the heat. Allow the mixture to cool for a couple of minutes and try not to sneak a taste!
  4. Brew your double espresso.
  5. Pour some milk (we prefer oat milk or almond milk) together with the peanut butter mixture into your cup. Stir well.

Note that many recipes will do this part differently, so results may vary.
  6. Add the double espresso to your mixture and top it off with a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

Does Coffee and Peanut Butter Go Together?

A standard peanut butter latte recipe, like the one above, may not suit everyone’s taste. If that’s the case, experiment with different amounts and try different ingredients depending on how you want to change it.

Does Peanut Butter and Espresso Go Together?

Peanut butter and espresso will not go together very well. An espresso is a very small shot of coffee, if you add any amount of peanut butter, it will not really be a drink anymore and will disrupt the raw coffee taste. However, there may be some strange recipes out there that manage to combine peanut butter and espresso.

Does Starbucks Have Peanut Butter Coffee?

Starbucks does have peanut butter coffee, but it’s not what you think. They bring out special seasonal drinks that are usually a limited-time edition. They have previously had the peanut butter frappucino, which some stores may still serve. It depends on the time of year, the trends, and where you are located.
