Have you started to notice lately that no matter how many cups of coffee you drink, you still feel exhausted and sleepy? Perhaps you consume so much coffee that you have actually built up a tolerance for it. Well, you’re not alone on that, a number of people are now looking for other alternatives aside from drinking more cups of coffee in order to get that caffeine kick again. That’s where Dead Eye coffee comes in to help.

There are three variations of this coffee drink, the first two are Red Eye coffee and Black Eye coffee. Out of the three, Dead Eye is without a doubt the strongest and will give you a caffeine kick you never thought possible.

We don’t recommend drinking more than one Dead Eye coffee per day, as the caffeine content can go over the daily limit that is considered healthy. You should also be wary of how many coffee drinks you have in a day in addition to a Dead Eye because that can also take you over the limit.

What Is a Dead Eye Coffee

A Dead Eye coffee is a regular coffee drink with an additional 3 shots of espresso added. A Dead Eye coffee can contain close to 300 mg of caffeine, depending on the type of coffee used.

It’s as simple as that, there are no special tricks or fancy recipes to make a Dead Eye coffee, you just make your regular drink and add the three shots of espresso to it.

You can make a Dead Eye coffee at home, and you can also order it in coffee shops. It will likely not be on the menu, but most baristas should be familiar with the term.

If the Dead Eye coffee isn’t strong enough for you, you can check out the world’s strongest coffee instead.

Why Is It Called Dead Eye Coffee?

There’s no definite answer as to who was crazy enough to create the drink or why such a name was used, but the drink started from the Red Eye Coffee. This was where people had to brew a drink that would help them stay awake on the red-eye flights.

Red Eye Coffee is the milder version of Dead Eye Coffee because it only requires one shot of espresso, compared to Dead Eye Coffee where it requires three shots of espresso.

How Do You Make a Dead Eye Coffee?

In order for you to craft a perfect Dead Eye Coffee, you need to combine 3 espresso shots with your coffee of choice. This could be a black coffee, latte, cappuccino, or any drink you prefer. Ideally, you should have access to an espresso machine. This is vital since the drink’s main ingredient is 3 shots of espresso.

What You’ll Need:

  • Coffee Beans
  • Espresso Machine
  • Brewing Device
  • Coffee Cup

Caffeine Content:

  • Brewed Coffee = 95 mg of caffeine
  • Espresso Shot = 65 mg of caffeine (Depending on coffee used)
  • Total Caffeine Content: 95 mg of caffeine + 65 mg x 3 = 290 mg of caffeine

What You Need To Do:

The process of making a Dead Eye Coffee is straightforward. All you need to remember is to prepare 3 shots of espresso. In a large cup, pour your 3 shots of coffee. Then prepare your brewing method and make your coffee. Let the coffee brew into the coffee cup with the espresso.

You can also make the coffee first and add the espresso after. We find that adding the espresso first allows the coffees to mix together as the regular coffee is pouring into the cup.

You can choose to add creamer or sugar or any sweetener of your choice to make your coffee taste better; be prepared for a bitter/strong taste with multiple espressos in one cup.

How Much Caffeine Is in a Dead Eye Coffee?

In a Dead Eye coffee, the caffeine content is around 290 mg. This number can be much higher if you use a stronger coffee, such as Death Wish coffee.

The caffeine content in a regular brewed coffee is about 95 mg of caffeine. This number doesn’t seem high, does it? You can drink around 6 of these in a day and still feel normal.

Now let’s move on to espresso, you’ve probably tried at least one shot, right? Every espresso you drink can give you the perfect jolt to kick-start your mornings, or give you a pick-me-up when you need it the most. These espresso shots contain around 65 mg of coffee for a shot, so combine that with your regular drink, and you are looking at 290 mg of caffeine in a Dead Eye coffee.

What Is a Coffee With 3 Shots of Espresso Called?

Coffee with 3 shots of Espresso is called a Dead Eye coffee. It is similar to the Black Eye coffee that contains 2 shots of espresso and the Red Eye coffee that contains 1 extra shot of espresso.

Don’t Forget About The Green Eye Coffee

If you order at Starbucks, a coffee with 3 shots of espresso is actually called a Green Eye coffee. It is a popular secret menu item or menu hack that is being passed around. Ultimately, it is the same as a Dead Eye coffee.
